Green, Yellow, Red...STOP!

The Haiti Ministry of Public Works, Transport, and Communications (MTPTC) conducted a massive damage assessment program following the earthquake. Approximately 400 buildings were evaluated and assessed. 50% of the buildings assessed were labeled green (safe to occupy), 27% tagged yellow (limited access), and 23% were tagged red (unsafe to occupy). The spray-painted tags in the photos above are on buildings at the Good Shepherd School. The main school building is tagged as red and is in the process of being demolished by Haitian workers with hand tools.
